The City of Unley and CLOVER were excited to receive the AILA Landscape Architecture Award for Parks and Open Space as well as the Adelaide Review + AILA SA People’s Choice award for the Activation of Heywood Park at the South Australian awards for the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects 24th July 2020. CLOVER was part of the project team for the mini-ninja playspace as part of the ‘fund my neighbourhood’ initiative that Council, CLOVER, the applicant and Elton Landscapes worked together to deliver a challenging circuit for tweens to test themselves. The mini-ninja course inspired by the ninja warrior movement has a series of climbing, balance, jumping and swinging obstacles and activities to race against the clock or an opponent. The course uses natural materials such as fallen logs, boulders, sand and mulch to respect the landscape character of Heywood Park. Elton Landscapes constructed the playspace including designing bespoke equipment and the creative use of nature play elements. CLOVER was the Landscape Architect for the playspace who worked collaboratively with the project team to develop the concept design, documentation and contract administration. The project was a true collaboration between client, community, landscape architect and contractor to deliver an exemplary outcome.
